A Skills Based Lab

The Eastside Actors’ Lab meets weekly and accepts new and continuing actors into its evening program on an open, rolling basis. The Lab’s instruction is experimental in nature – different techniques and processes are explored – but its class work is grounded in the teachings of Sanford Meisner. The Lab’s programming makes extensive use of, but is not limited to, Meisner’s “Repetition Exercise.”

The work actors complete in the Lab can be emotionally and intellectually intense and challenging. It’s crucial that participants exhibit professionalism, and the Lab demands and expects its participants to demonstrate the highest levels of respect and trust. Disrespect or emotionally or physically abusive conduct will not be tolerated by Eastside Actors’ Lab.

Participation in the Lab is free and is supported by a generous grant from 4Culture, ArtsWA, and from donations of its participants and those in the community who support the arts. The Lab, however, is not a “Drop-In” class. Actors are asked to participate consistently, over six-week intervals, and to notify its moderators if an absence is expected.
