We’re excited to announce a three-week series presented by Eastside Actors Lab, immersing participants in the transformative methods of Sanford Meisner. Our main emphasis will be on the Repetition Exercise, and its use as a powerful tool for actors to develop essential skills such as spontaneity, active listening, emotional authenticity, and ensemble work—all pivotal components in creating compelling and truthful performances. Participation is free.
When & Where
We will meet on the following Saturdays, from 1:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. at SecondStory Repertory in Redmond:
- April 6
- April 13
- April 20
What
The Meisner Repetition exercise forms the foundation of Meisner's acting methodology. While the exercise is not the sole technique for actors to craft compelling and authentic performances, it's designed to cultivate spontaneity, emotional authenticity, and attentive listening, allowing actors to genuinely connect with their scene partners. By engaging in repetitive exchanges, participants may develop the ability to fully inhabit the present moment, establish deep connections with their fellow actors, and access genuine emotions and reactions.
